Employees, pensioners demand merger of DA in basic pay

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation district Ganderbal and J&K Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Federation in a joint meeting at Ganderbal discussed various problems confronted to employees and pensioners of the State.
As per a release, the meeting was chaired by Mir Ghulam Rasool the patron of the Pensioners Federation and a senior trade union leader of the State. Baldev Raj Sharma chairman Pensioners Association was special guest on the occasion.
The meeting while criticising the anti working class policies of the Government demanded immediate release of seven percent DA installment in favour of pensioners and employees due to them from July this year.
It demanded immediate release of arrears of 6th Pay Commission and merger of 50 percent DA with basic pay. It also demanded regularization of daily wagers and enhancement of their wages. The meeting expressed grave concern over the hike in prices of LPG, petroleum products and alleged that the rising prices have broken the back of the people. It demanded that immediate steps be taken to eradicate unemployment as the number of unemployed youth was increasing day by day.
Mr Sharma stressed unity among the working class and also cautioned them of the Government agents who have played with their cause. Ghulam Nabi Wani and Abdul Ahad Bhat also addressed the meeting.
