Employees seek hike in medical allowance

JAMMU, May 8:   Low paid employees have urged upon the Government to increase medical allowance of the employees  from Rs 300 to at least  Rs 1000 if not Rs 2000.
In a largely attended employees meeting at Akhnoor the speakers reiterated the demands for enhancement of medical allowance from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 to at least Rs 1000 at  par with Central Govt  employees and pensioners, revision of minimum daily wage to Rs. 400, remuneration of village guards at par with minimum daily wage in vogue in the State, honorarium of  Lamberdars commensurate with rise in price index, amending SRO 412 & 413 removing fixation of service tenure of village guards and Lamberdars  up to five years whereas, the village guards have all along been demanding regularization of their service as Class IV employees on the pattern adopted in Haryana, West Bengal and many other states.
Babu Ram Sharma,  president of Low Paid Employees Federation Akhnoor  presided   over the meeting which was also addressed by Thakar Das,  president Provincial Village Guards Union, Bindraban  president Lamberdars Union,  Vakil Singh, Mulkh Raj Lamberdars and Rattan Chand Bhagat a senior local leader of LPEF.
The speakers laid stress upon according immediate confirmation by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu for the appointment orders of  Lamberdards issued by Tehsildars of Akhnoor, Mera Mandrian,  Chowki Choura and other tehsils. They  are not being paid honorarium despite  the fact that they are working since their appointment.
