Employees suspend strike as JU agrees for their regularization

JAMMU, June 21: As the Jammu University authorities agreed in principle for regularization of the daily rated workers and conceding other demands, the Class-IV employees today suspended their 43- day long protest and chain hunger strike.
Elaborating on the agreement, president of Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Krishan Chand informed that JU authorities have agreed to accommodate 70 Class-IV and 10 Safai Karamcharis on the vacant posts, which will be filled within 15 days as per the Circular No. Estab./13/4654-58 Dated: 20-06-2013. Further, he added, the JU will not advertise the Class-IV posts till the new policy of regularization is made available by the University.
As JU sought time of 15 days for formal issuance of order filling up vacant posts, the NGEU is suspending the ongoing strike for two weeks, said Vijay Kumar, general secretary of  NGEU.
