JAMMU, Jan 17: The State Government employees, under the banner of  Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) have decided to conduct ‘Gherao’ of  Civil Secretariat in support of their demands on January 30.
Addressing a press conference here today, senior JCC member Abdul Qayoom Wani said that in view of the delaying tactics being adopted by the Government and its indifferent attitude towards the employees, the JCC leadership has resolved to go for strong protest demonstration on January 30 and conduct ‘Gherao’ of the Civil Secretariat.
Giving details, Wani said the employees from various departments and the Public Sector Undertakings would assemble at Exhibition Ground near Press Club at around 10 am and then start their protest march towards Secretariat. He said the employees from various districts would also join the proposed protest march.
While referring to the pending demands of the employees, the JCC leader said that Government has failed to honour its commitment. The issues related to removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularization of  daily rated/ consolidated/ casual workers and framing a definite policy for them, enhancement of Medical allowance etc have remained unresolved. Several PSUs have not been accorded benefits of  6th Pay Commission. The employees have given sufficient time to the Government in solving their issues but they have been deprived of  the same.
The senior JCC  members including Mr Wani, Ganesh Khajuria, Amrik Singh, Devanand Gill, Jagdish Sharma and others appealed the employees to participate in large number in the protest march and make it a grand success.
