SHOPIAN, Jan 23: District Employment and Counseling Centre, Shopian has sanctioned subsidized schemes to some fake names under Jammu and Kashmir Self Employment Scheme.
The revelation came into the limelight after the centre published the final beneficiaries list in some news papers of the valley.
Abdul Hameed Bhat of Rawalpora told Excelsior that he was surprised to see his name mentioned at Serial Number 26 in the final list, which the department has published. “I have been mentioned as father of two sons Mudasir and Muntizer, and a daughter namely Sweety in the list,” he said.
He said since his was the only Bhat family in the village, which forced him to complaint before its authorities. “After seeing the name in news papers, I approached the department but nobody met me there,” he said.
“In the list I was shown that I have applied for a truck,” he said, adding, this has embarrassed him as he was continuously receiving phone calls from friends and relatives.
Bhat also said that he checked the departmental website to get contact numbers, and after contacting the Deputy Director Employment mentioned in the website he came to know that officer retired two years back from the post.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Bhat said that the centre has published the list as it was assigned with the job of providing various types of self employment avenues to the un-employed youth by way of providing financial assistance for setting up their own income generating units so that they can earn their livelihood. “I will look into the matter and those responsible for this fraud will be dealt under law,” DC said.
