Empowerment of women

Sir,
Women occupy unique position in the Indian society. A wife called better  half of a man donates her social stature and respectable position, she enjoys in the society. Extension of fundamental rights and equality of  opportunities in all walks of life, reflects how the Govt is determined to facilitate the womanhood for all round development.
But frequent cases of rape and gang rape in big cities as revealed through media etc humble and weaken the status they ought to enoy in the society. The attitude and mentality towards fair sex needs to be changed.
Indeed, enough laws exist, yet incidents of such nature keep lowering our heads when dignity and sanctity of the womanhood is looted in their own streets and towns. How disgraceful it becomes when the Govts and the society fail to protect them which is their primary duty. Insecurity in any shape does undermine the scope of their development which is highly detrimental in their upliftment. Women must be fully empowered to the extent to enable them to have dignified life in the society. Persons involved in heinous crimes like rapes should be punished  to curb such tendencies.
Yours etc…
