Enabling environment key to promoting industrial growth: Drabu

SRINAGAR, May 27: Underscoring the need of promoting local entrepreneurs, the Minister for Finance, Labour, Employment and Culture, Dr Haseeb A Drabu today said the necessary mechanism would be put in place so that local industry gets the much needed boost. He said the move would in turn improve the economy of the State and also create job opportunities for the youth.
The Minister was addressing an officers meeting to discuss Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Policy-2015.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister of State for Finance, Pawan Gupta, Financial Commissioner Industries, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Principal Secretary Finance, Naveen Choudhary, Principal Secretary Power, Sandeep Naik, Secretary IT, Hridesh Kumar, Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Zaffar Ahmed and other senior officers of Industries, Finance and Planning Departments were present on the occasion.
Dr. Drabu while highlighting the need for single window clearance of various projects said the same should be backed by appropriate legislative provision so that the aspiring entrepreneurs do not face any inconvenience and get the requisite and the necessary permissions within the shortest possible time.
“We have to ensure that the entrepreneurs desirous of setting up business units in the State get the necessary permissions without the cumbersome processes and delays, which is very essential promoting industrial sector in the State”, he added.
The Minister said that the administrative procedures should be simplified for setting up of the industrial units in the State so that the industrial scenario gets a flip and more industries come up in JK. “Special care should be taken to ensure that the ease of doing business is made more attractive by simplifying procedures, elimination of various laws and regulations, making bureaucratic process more easier and shorter for the aspiring entrepreneurs”, he maintained.
The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga stressed the need for creating conducive atmosphere for the business fraternity so that more people are attracted towards setting up industrial units in JK. He also called for upgrading the existing infrastructural capabilities of the State so that the necessary logistic and other related support can be provided to the industries in the State.
The Minister of State for Finance, Pawan Gupta stressed on the need for providing the requisite facilities to the existing industries as well as aspiring entrepreneurs.
Earlier, the Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce Kurshid Ahmed Ganai gave detailed overview about the industrial policy and its broad parameters.
