JAMMU, Oct 17: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) R.S Pura Gagan Bhagat today appealed the parents to encourage children with artistic talent to follow their dreams.
The MLA was referring to the talented children who performed during the concluding function of Theatre and Music Festival organized by Samooh Theatre & Lok Tarang in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages at KL Saigal Hall.
Dogri Lyrics fusion with western instruments was main attraction of the programme during which local budding artists left the audience spellbound by their soulful performance.
Joint Director, Department of Information & Public Relations, T.R Sharma was also present at the concluding function.
The MLA said that Jammu and Kashmir possesses rich cultural diversity and the culture changes after every few kilometers. There is a need to blend these cultures to bring people together, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Information, T.R Sharma said that every art form has its unique importance and the concept of mixing cultures bring positive changes in the society.
He further said that society is never static and evolves with its cultural gains and attain a place in the global civilization. “But the society which fails to carry forward its cultural identity slowly moves towards extinction”, he added.
Later, the MLA gave away mementos to Sukriti Sharma and Himanshu Pandita for their outstanding performances.
Other artists who performed in the programme included Sooraj Sharma, Rakesh Katoch, Mohit Sharma, Rohan and Dr Sudhir Mahajan.
