How to save the ecology of the colony has become the biggest question mark for all residents of Tawi Vihar Colony Sidhra, Jammu. Some time back an effort for conversion of the park on central lane was resisted by one and all. Now in present case, a piece of land pertaining to be a park, where a foundation stone was laid by the erstwhile Municipal Corporater of the area Rani Beloria MLC in the presence of J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation officials, has become the target for encroachment by certain elements. Without the knowledge and shelter of promoters of the colony no one can dare to grab even an inch of colony’s land.
A peaceful dharna was organized by the residents of the colony in the land proposed to be a park, in which maximum number of residents participated. The land grabbing has been the routine affair in the colony and as a result despite more than 25 years of its inception, people residing here are still wishing for the day when their requirments for a shopping centre, community hall, club etc besides the overhead tank and potable water augmentation plans, see the light of day. The numbers and areas of parks are decreasing by the passing period.

Rajouri roads in poor condition
I draw the kind attention of PWD Department Rajouri that around 4 kilometers road from Gambhir Brahmana to Khankheri is in poor condition. No proper work of levelling has been done on the surface of road till date. All this is creating several problems for people. Due to rains, the road becomes slippery and acts as a skating board, making it difficult for vehicle to ply over it. School going children and Govt. workers are also facing hardships. Patients face a difficult time due to poor condition of road people of the area have demanded levelling and early black topping of road to avoid any accident.

Repair Ramban-Gool road
The 52 km Chapram Nallah Daramkund road in Ramban is in deplorable condition since 1962 when it was constructed. Since then it has been laying in bad condition and a constant source of agony to the people of Ramban and Gool who use it.
The elected representative despite being aware of the problem, never bothered to repair it. Whenever there are rains, it become difficult to walk on. Patients are the worst sufferers. Hope the district administration would look into the matter at the earliest.

Attention Municipal
Commissioner Jammu
Presently most of the northern India is witnessing “Dengue outbreak” and few cases have been reported in Jammu also. Kindly take timely steps to nip the evil in the bud. Colonies located on the canal banks need immediate fumigation. Large number of devotees of Lord Gopi Nath and assemble in the Ashram situated in Udheywalla for morning & evening prayers. There is a large garden adjoining the ashram which is fertile ground for rearing Dengue “mosquitoes.” Kindly send a team for fogging the Ashram and is adjoining areas to preempt the spread of dengue.

Fast-track recruitment of Professors
I would like to request J&K Public Service Commission to fast-track recruitment of Assistant Professors of Degree Colleges in the Public interest. It is pertinent to State that applications for about 1600 posts of Assistant Professors for Degree Colleges were invited by the PSC about two years ago. The selection process is still pending and majority of the Degree Colleges are without permanent teaching staff. The contractual arrangement made thereof during all these years has created mess in the Department with each year giving rise to new problems and presently the course case for engagement as teaching Assistant against the post of Assistant Professors.
The permanent staff is accountable for better teaching and adhoc arrangements always ends up in further claims for permanent absorption. As the J&K PSC has been constituted with reputed experts. It is requested that the selection process for the posts of College Asstt. Professors may kindly be activated and finalised in shortest possible time to provide permanent teaching faculty in Degree Colleges.

Water, power crisis in Talab Tiloo area
Entire Talab Tiloo area, from Gole Pully to Anand Nagar and beyond, is waterless for last ten days or more. This is the most densely populated and congested area of the city. It extends over a length of nearly six kilometers. For last one week, this large population of lakhs of people is crying for a drop of water. We do not know the reason for sudden suspension of water supply because the PHE is devoid of courtesy to tell the citizens that water supply is suspended.
However, we learn that the PHE department is finding an alibi in the strike of daily wagers employed by the Department. People are not aware of what the dispute of these daily wagers with the Department is. The question is that daily wagers alone do not run the PHE.
Even when there were no daily wagers, water supply functioned normally. After all, there is a large contingent of engineers, junior engineers and regular employees of subordinate level with the PHE. How come that they are shunning their responsibility and bringing the onus to the doorsteps of the daily wagers? This is unacceptable. The Department seems to have lost the human touch. In the summer, when water is life, to deprive people, old, young and kids of this most essential requirement is callous and cruel.
The same is true of electric power supply. A number of localities of Talab Tiloo are linked with Bakhshi Nagar power grid. As such, they become the casualty whenever Bakhshi Nagar area has any power supply problem. Power supply to these localities like Shiv Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Priyadrshani Nagar, Bank colony etc. is immediately disconnected only to restore power to Bakhshi Nagar locality. In the course of a day there is at least ten times power tripping making power supply a mockery.
Before the vast population pours on the streets to disrupt traffic and bring out protest rallies that sometimes turn violent, we appeal to the PHE and PDD to normalize water and power supply to the most congested and densely population locality of Jammu. Deepak Raj
