Encroachment on 444 kanal forest land removed

JAMMU, Nov 17: A joint team of Forest Department (T) and Forest Protection Force (FPF) removed encroachment on 444 kanal of Forest land in Basantgarh Range of Ramnagar Forest Division today.
A senior Forest official said that team led by DFO Ramnagar, Jugal Kishore Gupta and Dy Director FPF Swaroop Chander, assisted by Revenue officials and field staff launched joint operation at Joffer in compartment No. 73, Basantgarh Range today and removed illegal encroachment on Forest land measuring nearly 444 kanals. The force also dismantled a structure and also removed stone-fencing raised by these villagers.
The official further alleged that nearly 420 kanal of Forest land had been grabbed by one Mohinder Singh, son of Kamlu, resident of Garh village and 24 kanals by Premu, son of Sabbu, resident of Joffer village in Ramnagar for the last more than two decades. Despite some resistance by these families and a few locals, the operation remained successful, the official added.
