JAMMU, Sept 6: Encroachments along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway were removed here today.
As per officials sources, the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) conducted anti-encroachment drive near Narwal along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During the drive, several illegal structures were demolished.
Police team also assisted the NHAI officials during the drive to remove the encroachments.
The drive will continue, the officials said, adding that the drive was conducted to clear the way for the construction of expressway.
However, the people of whom the structures were demolished turned the drive illegal. They said that NHAI is conducting anti-encroachment drive on pick and choose policy.
“Only the structures of the poor people are being demolished. Big and commercial establishments are not even touched”, they added.
