JAMMU, Mar 2: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat said that inoperability of Articles 370 and 35A has brought many changes in J&K with development and progress remaining on the top.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP leader claimed that rejuvenating VDCs by changing its nomenclature to Village Defence Groups (VDGs) will act as last nail in the coffin of terrorism in the region. He said that the move will benefit over 27,000 souls in the UT as Union Home Minister Amit Shah has proposed to set up more such units in the areas which are strategically sensitive.
Bali Bhagat said that the rejuvenation of VDGs will help the country to fight terrorism in a more effective manner besides enthusing confidence among the people living in far off places across the UT of J&K. He said that successive Governments by Congress and National Conference never paid heed to empower VDCs and that was the reason for this vital force finally losing its relevance in the region.
Bali Bhagat said that strengthening of VDCs in J&K will drastically improve security in J&K and shall help the country to fight terrorism promoted by Pakistan in a much better way.
The senior BJP leader also asserted that the regularization of 12,000 PDD daily wagers is a positive outcome of the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A. He said that the BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi envisaged all these factors while going ahead to end the aforesaid Articles of the Constitution which were acting as bottlenecks for the development and providing due rights to the people in J&K. He decried Congress, NC and PDP for deceiving daily wagers in the name of regularization.
