JAMMU, Dec 27: Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has urged upon the Central Government to end political reservation for SC/ST for large scale annihilation of caste vis a vis implementing all constitutional rights for SC/ST/OBCs in J&K including reservation in promotions.
Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of a youth conference, Mohinder Bhagat (working general secretary of JKRCEA) said, “While abrogating Article 370, the Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country had given so many dreams of overall development of J&K including SC/ST/OBC with a plea that whole of the Indian Constitution shall be implemented in J&K”.
He said it was dream of Constitution makers and Nation builders to annihilate caste from India and make it an Egalitarian society but continuation of political reservation beyond its sanction for initial 10 years has led to caste strengthening and caste compartmentalization instead of making India a casteless society for overall progress of the nation.
Prof G L Thappa (working president of JKRCEA) said that propaganda has been created by anti-SC/ST people that employment reservation should be economic based and not caste based but they never talk of annihilating the caste. He said some quarters are advocating ‘Creamy Layer’ concept for SC/ST that it is not only unconstitutional, anti-Apex Court verdicts and to further divide SC/STs into compartments, that shall not be in the larger interest of these communities and Nation as well.
Sham Lal Basson (member presidium of JKRCEA) said that there is overall unrest and sense of betrayal in the country be it SC/ST/OBC or farmers or any other component of the society. He urged the Central Government through LG Manoj Sinha to annihilate caste system completely by ending political reservation.
