SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all Deputy Commissioners to enforce ‘Single use of Plastic’ drive in letter and spirit in their respective districts.
All Deputy Commissioners will personally kick start the drive in a robust way at major locations for collection of plastic and dispose it on scientific lines in their districts. The disposal process should be initiated on daily basis and highlighted it in different sections of media.
Div Com further asked DCs to involve Panchs, Sarpanchs and Councillors to create mass awareness in their villages and wards regarding the ill-effects of plastic on environment.
It was given out that large number of jute bags, which is the perfect replicate of plastic and also eco friendly, shall be distributed among Municipal Committees and Panchayats creating awareness among the consumers.
Div Com also sought active involvement of teachers, employees, volunteers, students, traders and NGOs are included in sanitation drive at Government offices.
