Engineer arrested in bribery case found hanging in jail

JAMMU, Feb 24: An engineer arrested by CBI in bribery case has been found hanging in the washroom of District Jail Ambphalla here today, police sources said.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Imran Ullah, Assistant Garrison Engineer, a resident of Allahabad Uttar Pradesh.
He was arrested by CBI on January 7 this year along with Chandra Gangwar, Junior Engineer, both working in the office of GE, MES, Satwari, Jammu in a bribery case. They had demanded bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for processing his bills and were arrested red handed while accepting the same.
The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for completing medical and legal formalities.
However, magisterial inquiry has been ordered in this regard.
