SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Police today detained Independent legislator Abdul Rashid Sheikh after he staged a sit-in at the main entrance of Civil Secretariat here forcing the security to close the gate.
Rashid was demanding revocation of Sections Ranbir Penal Code banning sale and slaughter of bovine animals in the State.
As the main gate remained closed, some legislators and senior officers had to walk on foot from the main gate to the Assembly complex and Civil secretariat.
Later, a police party whisked away Rashid from the spot in a vehicle after the intervention of DIG police.
Rashid was assaulted by BJP legislators yesterday inside the Assembly over his ‘beef party’ organized at MLA hostel.
