JAMMU, Aug 12: Nationalist Democratic Party (NDP) has urged upon the State Government to enhance basic facilities for the pilgrims of Machail Mata in Paddar (Gulabgarh) area of Kishtwar district.
In a press statement here today, president of the Party , Ravi Bakshi said that State Government has least participation in this historic Yatra. From Government side, there is no facilities like accommodation, construction of track, laying of tiles, lights, sufficient medical facilities for the pilgrims at Gulabgarh, enroute shrine and at Machail Mata Darbar. He said the only three- storey building which is under construction at Gulabgarh has been raised by the Management Committee of Mata Machail.
At Atholi-Gulabgarh, there is no proper arrangement of street lights, sufficient tents and other facilities of night halt of the pilgrims. At shrine, the local people accommodate the pilgrims, while from Govt side there are no arrangements of food, stay of yatris, lying of tiles on track/ lanes and on VIP passage from Helipad to Temple –Shrine, just two Langars to feed thousands of pilgrims at Paddar and one at Darbar operates. He said many pilgrims are forced to sleep in the open at Machail as there are not proper arrangements of stay. There are long power cuts and no cell phone and STD communication is provided by the Government to the thousands of pilgrims visiting there during month long Yatra . The concerned MP and MLA are also least bothered about the plight of the pilgrims. The road condition has also not improved before the pilgrimage by the concerned agency.
