Enhancement of Medical Allowances

Sir,
One feels like to weep or laugh simultaneously when question of medical allowance comes, the existing rate of Rs 300 PM is apparently not compatible and doesn’t commensurate with the price hike of medicines. The senior citizens in 70s, 80s and even in 90s sometimes, are worst sufferers. They suffer heavily due to multiple incapacities and ailments, more so, like joint pains, heart diseases, diabetes and paralysis. In certain cases, even attendants are felt necessary to support them. Obviously they need an additional allowance to face such hard conditions of life. Therefore, uniformity in giving the allowance to senior citizens without introspecting how do they pass evenings of their life, appears somewhat illogical and bereft of human considerations. Over all, if seen, the existing rate of the allowance to employees is totally insufficient as the price index has touched the sky-height. Therefore, the purpose behind extending this facility gets undermined, if no enhancement, as justified, is done. Since the Government hospitals are not able to provide medical care, as needed, the masses are to move for private clinics for immediate relief, and consequently, a lot of expenditure involves even in minor ailments,. In the light of the stark realities as stated, an early action can’t be over emphasised to enhance the medical allowance.
