JAMMU, Apr 28: Chief spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress, Ravinder Sharma (Ex- MLC), has asked the Govt to ensure adequate facilities at the quarantine centres, as there are reports of some deficiencies at some locations.
In a statement chief spokesperson of the party has highlighted the issue of appropriate facilities at all such quarantine centres, especially in rural areas and asked the UT Administration to set up high level monitoring committee including some experts to check all such quarantine centres.
” It is understood that Govt has placed sufficient funds under SDRF with all DDCs to ensure all necessities to the deserving people and put in place all required things on ground. However, there are reports of shortage of food and ration to the migrant labourers, inadequate facilities at some centres and other such things,” Sharma regretted.
“No doubt, there are good efforts being made at various levels and on different fronts but still there has to be in place a counter check system and a responsive grievance redressal mechanism in place,” he said.
He also demanded that the inter district and intra-district permission system should be made more easy and equitable. Minor violations are dealt publically on roads by awarding punishment but some other influential manage their movements their own way. Similarly, there is still pick and choose in the matter of movement of stranded persons outside UT.
Some people have been brought back in planes and Govt transport while those approaching J&K borders by covering on foot journey, are getting another treatment. The govt must address these issues and concerns immediately and adopt uniform approach in similarly placed people.
He demanded regularly meeting the requirements of food and ration the migrant labourers, as only once or twice some ration was provided them but they are short of supply. There are sufficient stocks of ration and adequate funds at the disposal of DDCs but poor people are suffering for ration, he added.
