JAMMU, Jan 25: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today kick started development works at Akali Kour Singh Nagar at Digiana to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.50 lakh.
The Minister asked the officers of R&B Department to complete the works within stipulated time frame. He directed them to personally monitor the quality of works and sought the cooperation of the people in taking forward the development projects in the area.
Minister, while interacting with locals of the area, said that the Government is committed to provide better civic facilities to the people of the State, adding that every nook and corner of the State is being connected with the nearest urban centre through road network.
Responding to the demand of locals of Digiana, the Minister asked the officers of R&B and JMC to resolve the problems of the people of Akali Kour Singh Nagar with regard to chocking of nallah. He directed them to start work on cleaning the nallah immediately to ease the problems of the people.
Bhalla said that efforts are afoot to divert tourists of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji to other pilgrim places and adventure spots of the region, adding that Government has upgraded tourist infrastructure and recreational facilities at tourist spots across the region including at Bagh-e-Bahu for the purpose.
Raman Bhalla appealed people not to dump debris in the lanes and open spaces, adding that such practices not only cause inconvenience to the people but also pollute the environment around the area.
