Ensure better medicare to people: Shabir

JAMMU, Aug 8:  Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan today said that State Government is endeavouring hard to strengthen health sector in especially in far off parts with active support from the Centre.
The Minister said this while addressing people during an extensive tour of Jammu city conducted to inspect the working of health institutions.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Health Services, Dr. B.S. Pathania, Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization, Satish Gupta, Director NRHM, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma besides other senior officers of Health Department.
The Minister said that healthcare sector is receiving focused attention of the Government and several reforms are being launched to further improve health scenario in the state. He said that it is the endeavour of the State Government to provide better healthcare especially in inaccessible areas adding that liberal funding is being provided through various centrally sponsored schemes.
Mr. Shabir further stated that emphasis is being laid to facilitate the ailing people by strengthening urban as well as rural health care units with adequate health infrastructure.
Earlier, the Minister paid a surprise visit to Primary Health Centre, Kot Bhalwal and Urban Health Unit, Roop Nagar and directed the doctors and para-medical staff to refrain from absenteeism to deliver hassle free services to the public. He directed the officers not to leave their respective institution without prior permission of the concerned authority.
Later, the Minister visited office of Controller Drugs and Food Control, Jammu to assess the functioning of the organization. He was briefed about the work to done on FSSA pertaining Public Analyst, Public Health Laboratory (Food Laboratory) and number of samples received and tested by the Drug and Food Control Organization.
The Minister asked the officers to redouble their efforts to further enhance the scale of sample testing of life saving drugs.
