JAMMU, Nov 17: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir School Education Employees Coordination Committee (JSEECC) and President Plus 2 Incharge Lecturers Forum Amar Nath Thakur has requested the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to get the guidelines issued in wake of COVID-19 pandemic followed while deputing employees for conducting DDC elections.
He stated this during a meeting conducted after receiving the information from the employees deputed for conducting DDC election in various block of Jammu and Kashmir.
Thakur also requested CEC JKUT for exemption of employees on various grounds. He said some employees of Education Department who have been deputed for election duty are already engaged in other duties like board examination of 10th and 12th classes and offline examination from 1st to 9th classes. These employees should be deputed on election duty after ending exam duties, he stated.
“All employees who are between the age group of 56 to 60 years are facing multiple health problems and diseases. They should be exempted from election duties as per WHO and Home Ministry of India guidelines”, he said, adding that employees having valid medical or handicapped certificates should also be exempted from election duties.
He also demanded payment of pending TA and DA of elections conducted last year in 2019. “RTPCR or RAT tests of all employees should be conducted before deputing them to conduct election at polling stations otherwise one infected employee would infect others in this winter season “, he said, adding that all voters must be got thermo scanned and sanitized vis masks should be provided to without mask voters.
“All COVID-19 guidelines need to be followed strictly to stop the spread of pandemic. Election Commission and Health Department must take extra precautions to save the lives”, he added.
