DODA, Jan 28: Former Minister and Member All India Congress Committee (AICC), Mohd Sharief Niaz has said that people in Chenab belt and specially in Bhaderwah constituency are facing lot of hardships due to recent heavy snowfall.
In a press statement issued here today, Congress leader alleged that there was severe shortage of essential commodities in the market. The people are facing lot of problems in view of shortage of kerosene oil, fire-wood, cooking gas, ration etc. Even the street light in Bhaderwah town could not be restored, he said.
Niaz further said that snow could not be cleared from the roads/ streets and many villages are still cut off. He demanded that roads be cleared from the snow so that people could move out of their respective areas. He also demanded that power and water supply be ensured on regular basis to the public.
The former Minister further demanded that issues of Safai Karamcharis of Bhaderwah Municipal Committee be resolved and their wages be released. He further demanded that all CP workers, daily wagers and casual labours and HR workers of all the departments be regularized and their pending wages be released.
He said 65 daily rated workers of Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) are also without pay for the last three years. Niaz also stressed upon the RDD authorities to release MGNREGA payments of the labourers of Bhaderwah and Bhalessa area pending for the last 2-3 years.
