Ensure safety of revenue record of Roshni Scheme: DB

JAMMU, Oct 13: Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajesh Bindal has directed the Principal Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department Pawan Kotwal to ensure that revenue record vis-à-vis Roshni Scheme is not tampered with, damaged or destroyed in any manner.
The direction has been passed in an application seeking directions for digitization of revenue record filed in the PIL No.19/201.
When the matter came up for hearing, the DB observed, “we have been informed by Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary Revenue Department that the process of digitization of the revenue record is underway”, adding “it is essential to have the method being adopted and the manner in which the digitization is being undertaken of the revenue records and the respondents shall place the same on affidavit before us to be filed within two days from today”.
“The affidavit shall disclose the manner in which the tehsil-wise digitization is being effected and posted in the public domain”, the DB said, adding “the respondents shall ensure that revenue record including all applications and documents under the Roshini Act are kept secured and safe and are not lost/ tampered with/ damaged/ destroyed in any manner whatsoever”.
The DB also issued directions for furnishing copy of this order to the Chief Secretary; Secretary Revenue; Divisional Commissioner Jammu as well as Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
