RAFIABAD, Mar 30: Senior leader of J&K People’s Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil expressed concern over power crisis in the Valley especially in Sopore and Rafiabad areas.
Vakil visited several areas including Sangrama, Seer in Sopore and Wuhlutura, Saripara in Rafiabad. He said that unscheduled power cuts have aggravated woes of people which resulted in protests in Sangrama. Vakil expressed solidarity with the people of Sangrama who were protesting yesterday because of power crisis in the area.
Former minister lambasted at the administration for making people suffer in the holy month of Ramadan and forcing them to come on streets. “It is preposterous that people have been forced to go without electricity for days together even in the metered areas. The power crises is worse in non-metered areas where people are rendered helpless in the absence of electricity,” he said.
Vakil further maintained that the present power crisis has exposed the tall claims of UT administration of enhancing energy supply. He stressed upon the UT administration to ensure the availability of all essential commodities besides uninterrupted power and water supply especially in the areas of Rafiabad and Sopore so that people don’t suffer anymore during this holy month of Ramadan.
During his tour Vakil visited several families who lost their loved ones recently, offered condolences and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
Vakil was accompanied by senior JKPC leaders of Rafiabad and Sopore.
