It is heartening to see the Commission for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes in Jammu Kashmir committed to reviewing and refining reservation policies, particularly with regard to the Residents of Backward Areas (RBA) category.
The Commission’s decision to carefully examine representations for inclusion/exclusion of castes and communities in various categories is a commendable step towards ensuring fair and equitable representation for all.
The reservation system plays a crucial role in addressing historical disparities and promoting social justice. It is essential that these policies are periodically reviewed and adjusted to reflect the changing socio-economic landscape.
The Commission’s efforts to exclude areas that have developed over time and include genuinely backward regions demonstrate a commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and justice.
I encourage the Government to grant any necessary extensions to the Commission to complete this important task effectively. By doing so, we can further strengthen the inclusive and equitable development of Jammu & Kashmir.
