Entire Janipur belt plunges into darkness for over 12 hours

JAMMU, June 2: There was a complete power shut down for over 12 hours in the areas fed by Janipur Grid Station after the snapping of Sidhra Janipur 132 kv Double circuit transmission line due to uprooting of four number of trees near Golf Course Sidhra.
There was complete shut down for the entire night in the areas which are fed by Janipur Grid Station putting the people to lot of trouble in this scorching Summer heat.
The power supply was only restored this morning when the patrolling gang of PDD was able to find out the fault. The power remained off from 9 pm yesterday to 10 am in the morning in the entire belt.
When contacted the Chief Engineer System Operations PDD Ravi Chandyal said that trees had fallen near Golf Course Sidhrah due to hail storm snapping the 132 kv double circuit transmission Line from Gladni to Janipur which resulted into the power failure into entire Janipur belt.
He said the power supply was affected to Janipur Grid Station due to which the areas fed by it were plunged into darkness.
The power supply to Gladni Grid remained off for 20 minutes from 11-15 to11-35 pm yesterday affecting the power supply from Salal One and Salal Two. The Gladni Grid Station is getting 400 mw power from Slalal 200 mw each from Salal one and Salal two.
