Entrepreneurship development program begins at SMVDU

KATRA, Aug 17: Week long Entrepreneurship Development Program, funded by Higher Education Department, was inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
In his inaugural address, Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor SMVDU, motivated the students that entrepreneurship is the only route through which one can realize their true potential. He also apprised the audience that the objective of this program is to ignite the young minds for entrepreneurial activities and apprise about how the Government is intervening to provide platforms to budding potential entrepreneurs.
In his inspirational speech, Rajneesh Sharma, Director and Founder, Trikuta Agro & KNK Chemicals, J&K, encouraged students to pursue their dreams and become entrepreneurs and to be instrumental in employment generation.
Annil Suri, Chairman, AB Group of Companies, Jammu, expressed his pleasure in interacting with young minds and guided the attendees to follow the mantra of work hard, work smart and follow dreams with perseverance- keeping in mind ones strengths and by following the principle of honesty.
Earlier, in the inaugural session, Dr Supran Kr Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Management and the Program Coordinator, emphasized that the program has been conceived with the idea to make young generation more aware of what is happening around them; understand their strengths; to go beyond their conventional thinking and to nurture the culture of experimentation to augment the innovation efforts.
In his address, Nagendra S Jamwal, Registrar, SMVDU, highlighted the University’s achievements in various fields. He also briefed about the efforts of SMVDU in encouraging innovation and identifying opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures.
The program is sponsored by the Higher Education Department J&K and has been designed for college students. Dr Sharda Potukuchi, Co-convener of the event, delivered the formal vote of thanks to the dignitaries and participants. More than ninety students from different colleges of Jammu are participating in this prestigious program, spanning over a week filled with brainstorming and interactive sessions followed by case study discussion, business plan formulation, business canvas development focused hands on sessions.
