NEW DELHI, Mar 18: The Union Environment Ministry has barred Hyderabad-based consultant B S Envi Tech Pvt Ltd for one year for preparing environment impact assessment for thermal power projects without any permission.
The consultant has been barred for “misguiding” the ministry by not sharing earlier details, while submitting a fresh application seeking ‘Terms of References’ for a coal-based thermal project of Odisha-based SPI Ports Pvt Ltd.
In a latest order, the ministry said SPI Ports Pvt ltd had earlier submitted a proposal for the same project way back in 2015 but the proposed locations and alternative sites were not agreed and the same was communicated to the company in early 2017.
The consultant re-submitted the proposal in January 2018 without mentioning the details of the earlier developments. It has “deliberately misled the ministry by suppressing the facts….,” it said.
“The ministry hereby debars the B S Envi Tech from participating in the EIA (environment impact assessment) process in thermal power for one year for misguiding the ministry as well as project proponent,” the order added. (PTI)
