Environmental ethics

Sir,
It is a natural phenomenon that natural communities survive because man modifies these to suit his purpose. Natural resources are destroyed mostly due to carelessness of man and it may be used for agriculture, industry or other activities. Man’s activities are often so extreme and so rapid that their effects are like those of a seires of catastrophic natural events. Thus not only he is responsbile for destroying or  modifying natural communities, but  he may also frequently modify the environment.
Deforestation has increased soil erosion, loss of soil fertility and recurring floods. Increased urbanisation has created housing problem. The need of the hour is  that we stop indiscriminate use and abuse of environment and evolve methods for keeping the population and pollution under control.
The material gains from natural resources must be balanced and weighed against the aesthetic values of nature. Due to developing economic trends, human life should not become more tense and miserable.
