277 new cases in Jammu, 73 in Ladakh

JAMMU, Dec 8: Five persons including mother of an Executive Officer and a Monk died of COVID-19 in Jammu region and Leh district of Ladakh today while many members from different families tested positive for the virus on outskirts of Jammu City.
Seven members of two families in Janipura, four of a family each in Nanak Nagar and Channi Himmat, three of a family each in Bohri and Roop Nagar and couple from Trikuta Nagar were among the positives in Jammu.
Four persons tested positive for the virus in Pallanwalla, three Dansal, two Bishnah and one each at Akhnoor, Kot Bhalwal and RS Pura.
However, Jammu district didn’t report any COVID fatality today and all four casualties in Jammu region were reported from Doda, Reasi, Kathua and Ramban districts.
A 78-year-old woman from Astan Mohalla in Doda town, who happened to be mother of an Executive Officer of Municipality, died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in SKIMS Srinagar today where she was referred yesterday from the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda.
A 54-year-old man from Barnoti in Kathua district died of pathogen in the GMC Kathua. He had no other ailments. An 82-year-old man hailing from village Halla in Ramban district succumbed to the virus in the District Hospital Ramban.
An 82-year-old man from village Chassana in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district died of multiple ailments and virus in the GMC Jammu this evening.
A 58-year-old monk from Lamayuru Monastery identified as Konchok Chotar, who was a resident of Skyinding in Leh district died of Coronavirus in Leh today taking number of casualties in Leh to 79 and Ladakh to 122. Kargil has reported 43 Corona deaths.
Four Monks have so far died of COVID-19 in Leh district.
Ladakh today reported 73 fresh Corona cases. Among them, 49 were in Leh district and 24 in Kargil which have taken Corona count of the UT to 8969. Of them, 793 are active as 8054 have recovered from the virus.
With four casualties today, Jammu region’s death toll has gone up to 628 including 318 in Jammu district followed by 58 Doda, 52 Udhampur, 50 Rajouri, 43 Kathua, 33 Samba, 22 Poonch, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban and 10 in Reasi district.
Among 277 Corona positive cases in the region today, 161 were reported from Jammu district, 24 Rajouri, 21 Udhampur, 16 Samba, 14 Kishtwar, 13 each Doda and Kathua, nine Ramban and three each in Poonch and Reasi districts.
As many as 302 persons recovered from the virus, the highest being 150 in Jammu district, 59 Udhampur, 23 each Kishtwar and Ramban, 18 Kathua, 17 Doda, seven Rajouri and five in Poonch district. Reasi and Samba districts didn’t report any recoveries today.
Jammu region now has 46480 Corona cases. Among them, 2462 are active positives while 43390 have recovered from the virus and there have been 628 casualties.
