JAMMU, Oct 15: Tenants of Evacuee Property (EP) held protest demonstration against the Custodian Department here today.
A large number of EP allottees, under the banner of Evacuee Property Tenants Welfare Society led by its president Inder Mohinder Tar Singh assembled here today and held massive protest demonstration. They also burnt the effigy of Custodian Department.
These agitating tenants alleged that officials of the department were harassing them on various pretexts and not allowing them to initiate repair works as well. They raised slogans against the Custodian Jammu and the higher authorities. Mr Singh said not only in Jammu the EP tenants are being victimized in R S Pura, Bishnah, Rajouri and other places. He said providing them ownership rights is the only solution.
He pointed out that some officials of the department are indulging in fraudulent acts and the Custodian Jammu has shut his eyes. Many unfair activities are going on in the department but those at the top seemed to be conniving with them. He also referred to certain cases and the harassment meted out to the certain families. He demanded the intervention of concerned minister in this regard.
