It won’t be any overstatement of the sort that in NCR and adjoining areas, the mosquito bitten disease dengue fever has attained the level of an epidemic.
Jammu has all along remained virtually free from this dangerous disease which can prove fatal. But this year so far, as per reports, more than 50 cases have been reported in Jammu from Samba, Kathua, Vijaypur,Bari Brahmna and other rural areas. Incidents are more but not reported. Health Department should have taken precautionary measures to prevent the occurrence of this disease by means both of public awareness as well other preventive steps like fogging, sprays. Arrangements for proper blood testing facilities at every district and sub district hospitals and the treatment to be provided to the patients needs to be ensured on priority during the ciritical period from September to ending November.
