Srinagar, Sept 12: Police today foiled “Secretariat Gherao” called by Awami Itehad Party (AIP) in protest against Shopian killings by charging batons and using water cannons to disperse the protestors.
The spokesman of the AIP Showkat Nadvi said the recent killings in Shopian are the direct outcome of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) which is giving forces impunity to kill innocent people in Kashmir.
Nadvi while informing the party’s upcoming joint strategy said, “we will involve all mainstream politicians, separatists and even Jihad Council to pave way for revocation of AFSPA and other draconian laws in Kashmir.
President, Awami Itehad Party (AIP) Er. Abdul Rasheed demanded arrest of those responsible for Shopian killings. “Those who are involved in innocent killings must be brought before public and must be given stern punishment,” he said.
