KATRA, Aug 30: Baridar Sangharsh Committee today observed a black day on 37 years of their ‘exile’ and constitution of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Amid raising of slogans, the protesting Baridars also tried to march towards the office of Shrine Board. However, Police did not allow them to proceed further.
Large members of erstwhile Baridars of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine assembled at Katra Main Chowk and staged massive protest against Government and the Shrine Board. Shouting slogans in support of their long pending demands, the protesting Baridars asked the Government to fulfill the promises made with them.
While talking to media persons, protestors said that from the last 37 years, Government and Shrine Board were befooling the Sewadars of Mata Vaishno Devi.
They said that over 30,000 souls of Baridars were fully dependent upon the offerings of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine to meet their day to day needs but since the constitution of board, all these people were now finding it difficult to meet their both ends. “The Board took over the shrine without compensating the genuine Sewadars,” they added.
Recalling the Prime Minister’s assurance to address the grievances of the erstwhile Baridars, they lamented that BJP and PM Modi did not fulfill the promise they had made with them.
