Escalating tension after surgical strikes evokes mixed response

JAMMU, Sept 30: Escalating tension between the two neighbouring countries following surgical strikes by Indian Army on terrorists’ launching pads in PoK, has evoked a mixed reaction even as Army is being commended wholeheartedly for taking to task perpetrators of terror attacks.
All Jammu Civil Society Forum held an extra -ordinary meeting here today to express solidarity and admire the Indian Army for meticulously carrying out bold surgically conducted punitive action against the Pakistan sponsored brutal but cowardly attack at Uri.
The Forum convenor, Th Gulchain Singh Charak said that the AJCSF stands with our valiant troops and the Central Government for listening to the voice of the nation and taking this well calculated initiative which had become necessary to contain the ongoing proxy war that has shed enough blood in our nation.
The Co convenor, Abdul Majid called upon the civil population to stay alert and foil any design by anti-national elements to harm the society, Government property or disturb our secular ethos and mutual faith, respect, love and brotherhood among all communities and sections of society.
All present members unanimously and wholeheartedly appreciated the Government and the Indian Army who have proved to the nation that they are the best in the world and if given a free hand, can carry out such surgical strikes with accuracy precision and stunning speed and decisive results and restore normalcy in J&K.
Meanwhile, senior National Conference leader and MLA Mendhar Javed Ahmed Rana today asked Pakistan to shun the path of terrorism and appealed both the neighbouring countries to resolve all their outstanding issues through civilized and democratic means.
“It seems the art of politics and the ability to engage in serious democratic arguments over issues affecting future of people of South Asia is absent in the present dispensations on both sides”, Rana observed while urging both sides to move conscientiously in the direction to end perpetual instability and war hysteria in the region.
While commending the Army for taking to task the perpetrators of terrorist attacks in J&K, Mr Rana cautioned against any misadventure that may lead to escalations.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and the inhabitants of villages along the LoC are the worst victims of continued hostility between the two sides”, the MLA said and impressed upon the Union and the State Governments to put in place an effective contingency plan for border inhabitants of Pir Panjal region.
Rana also spoke to senior officers of the district administrations in Pir Panjal region and enquired about the preparations for evacuation, in case the situation along the LoC further worsens.
Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) has also appealed for calm and asked New Delhi as well as Islamabad to apply maximum restrain as Kashmir issue needs peace and not to be address by the blood of innocents.
“Political leadership of Pakistan should come forward and resolve all issues with Prime Minister Modi who is in full authority. Blood shed war will sow the seed of disruption which is not healthy for God fearing societies,” Front leaders said during a meeting, here today.
The JMF also appealed the leaderships of both the countries to sign No War Pact and ensure non-interference in the conduct.
The meeting was attended by Imran Qazi, president; Shuja Zaffer, general secretary; Rashid Ahmed, Amjad Malik, Hanief Chowdhary, Younis Malik, Mohd Sharif, Advocate Ashaq Elahi and others.
