JAMMU, July 24: After putting in hectic efforts, joint team from Police Station Peer Mitha and Police Post Gujjar Nagar re-arrested an accused from Bhagwati Nagar, who managed to escape from custody few days back.
As per police sources, the accused identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar of Gujjar Nagar District Jammu was arrested on July 21 under Section 41 CrPC for questioning in a case registered under FIR Number 18/2021 under Section 379 IPC at Police Post Gujjar Nagar. He was lodged in Police Station Peer Mitha.
“The suspect forced the sentry to go to washroom. After using the washroom, when sentry was about to put him in the lockup, the suspect fled away from the clutches of the sentry”, sources said, adding that two cops on duty identified as SgCT Jagdesh Raj (sentry) and Constable Mohammad Hussain have been suspended while a probe has been ordered.
However, a fresh case FIR Number 45/2021 under Section 223 and 224 has been registered against Rahul Kumar at Police Station Peer Mitha and investigation going on.
During hunt, a joint team from Police Station Peer Mitha led by SHO Inspector Ajaz Haider and assisted by Incharge Police Post Gujjar Nagar SI Ayub Khan under the supervision of SDPO City Sharad Kalu and SP City Mohita Sharma conducted serious of raids in different areas of Jammu District and after hectic efforts, re-arrested the accused today morning from Bhagwati Nagar area.
Further investigation into the cases registered against the accused is going on.
