As many as 12.56 lakh new subscribers were added under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in the month of February, 2022, the payroll data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Monday showed.
As per the report titled “Payroll Reporting in India A Formal Employment Perspective”, the total net new subscribers fell in February as compared to 12.99 lakh added in January 2022.
The report is based on payroll data from new subscribers to ESIC, the EPFO and the PFRDA.
The report further said nearly 10.10 lakh male and 2.45 lakh female subscribers were added to ESIC.
According to the data 8.40 lakh new subscribers were added under the EPF scheme in the month of February, 2022, registering a decline as compared to those added in January, which stood at 9.24 lakh.
As many as 9.34 lakh members exited but re-joined EPF scheme by continuing their membership during the month.
The data further showed that the National Pension Scheme (NPS) also witnessed a marginal decline in net addition of subscribers to 64,611 from 64998 added in January 2022.
Out of the total subscribers added under NPS, as many as 40644 members were state government employees, followed by Central government employees at 13112 and non-government or corporate sector were 10855 subscribers. (UNI)
