SAMBA, Oct 16: The Department of Paediatrics at ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), conducted a two-day certification workshop on the Basic Neonatal Resuscitation Program (BNRP) Provider Course from October 14-15.
Under the guidance of Medical Superintendent Dr Tilak Raj, the workshop focused on the vital “First Golden Minute” (FGM) and aimed to equip healthcare professionals with crucial skills to handle neonatal emergencies.
This initiative, part of the broader First Golden Minute Project, provided hands-on training to doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals, emphasizing the importance of prompt intervention during the first minute after birth to improve newborn survival rates. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, including practical simulations designed to sharpen their skills in neonatal resuscitation and crisis management.
Before the workshop, participants completed an online module and a pre-test, preparing them for the intensive practical sessions. The event fostered a collaborative learning environment where healthcare professionals could share experiences and gain insights into effectively managing critical neonatal cases.
Presided over by Dr Sanjeev K Digra (Professor of Paediatrics at SMGS Hospital, Jammu) and Dr Neeraj K Gupta (Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at GMC Doda and the IAP-BNRP State academic coordinator), the workshop featured faculty members, including Dr Pooja Kawte, Dr Ajay Choudhary, Dr Pankaj Gupta and Dr Preeti Gupta, who coordinated the program.
Dr Sanjeev K Digra highlighted the significance of early intervention in neonatal care, noting, “This workshop is a vital step in enhancing the capabilities of healthcare providers in our community and can significantly reduce neonatal mortality.”
Medical Superintendent Dr Tilak Raj reaffirmed the Hospital’s ongoing commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare through continued training initiatives.
