JAMMU, Sept 4: Ek Sath Rang Mandal (ESRM) today presented its 263rd nukkad “Maya Jaal” in its Monday Theatre series at Floriculture Park, BC Road, Jammu.
The nukkad opens with entry of a fake saint in a small town with his two associates for befooling the people. The saint is a juggler and a trickster. He manipulates and creates a scene for establishing his goodwill among the people.
All of a sudden, a person fells unconscious on a road. People gather and the man accompanying him cries for help for taking him to hospital, but in the mean time a Baba appears and stops them from taking him to hospital. He asks them to get a candle, claiming that he will cure him just now.
A candle is brought and lit and after reciting some mantras by Baba Ji, the person regains his conscious. Seeing this, people around him influenced by his treatment and ask him numerous questions for their problems and treatments.
Soon, Baba ji becomes famous as “Mombati wala Baba”. He treats every patient with candles. Now Baba ji is getting pockets of candle and money as well.
A social worker questions this blind faith of the people in the Baba and decides to expose him and catch him red handed. With the help of police, the social worker locates the living place of Baba, where he is found enjoying with his associates. Baba confesses that he is a cheat and befools people who are easily trapped.
Actors who performed in the play were Raju Mad, Harsh, Mohit, Yogesh Singh, Rahul Dev, Dheeraj Sharma, Shiv Kumar and Vijay Malla. The nukkad was written and directed by Vijay Malla.
