Establish chair of Lal Ded in KU, Museum in Kashmir: KPs

JAMMU, Sept 22: Kashmiri Pandits today demanded that the chair of Lal Ded -a Shiv Yogni and mystic poet of medieval Kashmir be established at Kashmir University on the pattern of Nund Reshi Chair.
The demand was made by P L Koul Budgami, a KP leader while addressing a function organised by Mata Sahrda Temple Committee, Pouni Chak on the eve of birth anniversary of Lal Ded near here, today.
A large number of people attended the function which was chaired by Budgami. He also demanded a Lal Ded Museum be established in Kashmir, besides a Museum of Lal Ded be also established at Sharda Temple, Pouni Chak.
Budgami regretted that the State Government during the last 70 years failed to give due recognition to this great saint of Kashmir who had set a Vaakh parampara stressing how a human being can be freed from the bondages of the world and can be one with the God.
Addressing the function Panun Kashmir chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo highlighted the philosophy of this great spiritual saint of Kashmir whom he said was one with Lord Shiva. He said Lal Ded inspired people during her life time to be devoted to their dharma which is supreme and above all.
Chrungoo said that her service to Sanatan Dharma at a time when Kashmir was facing upheavals can’t be forgotten. Her Vaaks are thought provoking based on Trika philosophy and non-duealism. Chrungoo stressed on teaching her philosophy to the younger generation is need of hour.
He also urged the community members to work for saving and protecting their culture, tradition and language which are linked to Sanatan Dharma. He said the Dharma always triumphs and those who follow the path of dharma are ultimate winners.
P N Pandita ex SSP and a writer, also spoke on the philosophy of Lal Ded and regretted that his most Vaakhs have been distorted. He also recited her Vaaks. Dr Usha Kher also spoke on this great Shiv Yogni and recited some of her vaaks.
Badri Nath Abilash a well known Bhakti poet recited a poem on Lal Ded which has been written by him while Bal Krishan Sanyasi another poet and writer dedicated his poem to Lal Ded.
Shiban Lal Bhagati also threw light on spiritual journey of Lal Ded while Suraj Krishan Koul former Excise Commissioner proposed the vote of thanks. The stage was managed by Vijay Wali while some students recited the Lal Vaakh and they were later honoured by the Committee. Some prominent community members including women were also honoured on the occasion.
