JAMMU, Aug 1: Former minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party general secretary RS Chib has asked the National Board of Examination (NBE), to include Kashmir in the list of centres, for the benefit of those doctors from Kashmir, who are aspiring to appear for National Eligibly- cum-Entrance Test for Super Specialty (NEET-SS)- 2023.
In a press statement here Chib said there are nearly 450 doctors who are scheduled to take the Super Specialty Examination which is likely to be held in September this year. A separate centre was established in Srinagar, in the year 2021, for the NEET-SS examination but it is not understood, that no centre was established in Srinagar for the year 2022 and also it appears, that the NBE has no plan to set up an Examination Centre for 2023 in SRINAGAR.
Chib said that NBE should understand that NEET-SS is a very important and crucial examination, for aspiring Medical professionals, for their future by seeking admission in various higher super specialty courses such as DM, Mch and DNB, in other institutions of our country. He further said that, the Kashmir as compared to Jammu has large number of aspirants and hence there is a need to have centres both at Jammu and Srinagar. He said if a large number of doctors have to leave their hospitals for JAMMU to participate in examination, for a minimum of three days, will potentially effect the patient care, in their absence.
DPAP leader said that the NBE should understand the geographical disparity, for those who have to travel from Kashmir to Jammu by taking a long and difficult Journey, which will cause to them additional stress and anxiety and ultimately effect their performance in the examination.
Chib urged upon the NBE and others associated authorities with the decision making to intervene and besides Jammu, set up another centre at Srinagar, in the interest of the aspirants from Kashmir Valley.
