Establishing 3-tier PRI system watershed for J&K: Yudhvir

JAMMU, Jan 28: The establishment of three-tier system of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been the watershed for grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior vice-president, Yudhvir Sethi said here, today.
Sethi made these comments after meeting Panchayat representatives from Kathua district who had called on him to honour him for the grand performance of the BJP candidates in the recently concluded elections to the District Development Councils (DDCs).
Sethi, who is also the in-charge for Kathua district, said that under the current leadership at the Centre, BJP has succeeded in decimating the dynastic rule in Jammu and Kashmir and putting the power back to the people of the region.
A group of Panchs and Sarpanchs from Kathua district called on Yudhvir Sethi here and honoured him for the impressive victory of party in the DDC elections.
These Panchayat representatives expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for promoting local governance.
“Modi Ji wrote history when his Government established three tiers of PRI system in Jammu and Kashmir viz. Panchayats, Block Development Councils and District Development Councils, after a wait for over 70 years. This move not only strengthened grassroots democracy in the Union Territory but also put the power back with the people,” Sethi told the gathering.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered a lot at the hands of successive Governments who promoted the dynastic politics at the expense of public welfare. This has been put at halt by BJP, Sethi added.
Sethi also express gratitude to the visiting Panchayat representatives for their hard work in the DDC elections and said that BJP’s clean sweep has shown that people have understood that BJP is the only political option for them. He said the initiative for the development of Kathua -Udhampur Parliamentary constituency taken by local MP, Dr Jitendra Singh has been rewarded by people with their total support to the party.
