Estate Contractors appeal Govt to release their payments

JAMMU, July 27: As their ongoing indefinite protest dharna entered into 79th day today, the Contractors Association of Estate Division Jammu once against appealed the Government to release the due payments on account of works executed by them on the direction of Estate authorities.
“We had undertaken the jobs like renovation, additions and alteration on the direction of Estate authorities and completed the works with great satisfaction of the Department,” they observed while holding a   meeting under the chairmanship of Sanjay Soi, president of the Association.
The Association members lamented that they approached the Department for a number of times for the release of their pending payment for the year 2014-15 but denied for the same by concerned authorities with the plea that funds were not available to release the payments.
Highlighting the plights of affected Contractors, the Association said that their families had virtually reached at the verge of starvation because of unprecedented delay in release of payments. They appealed the Chief Minister and Finance Minister to personally look into their grievance and issue necessary direction so that the Contractors may get their due payments.
Those, who attended the meeting, included Kuldeep Sharma, K D Singh, Arun Sharma, Harbhajan and Nazir Ahmad.
