Estates employees to go on strike

JAMMU, Jan 16: Estates employees have given seven day’s ultimatum to the Government to address their pending demands, failing which they will launch ‘ Kaam Chhorh Hartal’.
In a meeting of All J&K Estates Employees Coordination Committee held here today under the leadership of Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Pal Sharma, the members unanimously resolved to go on strike if the higher authorities failed to address their issues. They said in the last week of October, 2012, during meeting with Director Estates in presence of Dy Director and Executive Engineer concerned, it was agreed to resolve pending issues within a month but unfortunately, the authorities are still sleeping over the issues.
It was pointed out that the issues regarding re-organisation of department, In-situ promotions/ arrears, regularization of daily wagers, clearance of SRO-43 cases, shifting of Dy Director’s office from Manda to other suitable location, conduct of DPC, provision of two and half days extra salary for staff remained unattended. The employees are being forced to adopt agitational path. They warned to go on indefinite strike, if the demands are not addressed within a week.
