Estates furniture rots in stores

Srinagar, May 7: Furniture worth lakhs of rupees is rotting in the Stores of Estates Department, Kashmir, for past several years as no auction has taken place.
Sources said that for the past 5 years large quantity of furniture has accumulated in the stores of Estates at Jawahar Nagar, Tulsi Bagh, Dalgate and Divisional stores at Circuit House Srinagar.
The tenants of the Estates properties are facing difficulties as unused furniture has got accumulated in their accommodations.
Sources said that once the furniture rots in the stores it is of no use and department is facing loss of lakhs of rupees. They said that old and unused furniture be auctioned so that the department may not face further losses and the unused furniture at various Estates properties will be shifted to stores.
