Evacuate stranded J&K labourers, students: Saroori

JAMMU, Mar 28: Jammu and Kashmir Congress, vice president GM Saroori today urged the Government to evacuate the J&K labourers, students who are unable to return home due to lockdown.
A large number of students were studying in different colleges while as labourer’s were working as daily wagers in different unorganised sectors, are now stranded in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Assam and other states. Most of them are from Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi districts.
“Stranded labourers and students are making distress calls who are struck up in neighboring states in different parts of the country, should be immediately brought back to their homes in view of the alarming spread of COVID-19”, Saroori demanded.
He said it is the responsibility of our administration to take up with respective State Governments and Govt of India besides appointing nodal officers and grievance cells for each State to identify such people and render them all possible help.
