Evacuee property tenants be given ownership rights: Anu Gupta

JAMMU, Aug 1: Jammu East Constituency Citizen Forum restarted movement to give ownership rights to the custodian tenants.
In this Movement Anu Rajesh Gupta and her team meet with the Rajinder Bazar Association as the maximum number of shopkeepers in the Bazar are the allottees of Custodian Department. Anu Gupta was accompanied by Karan Singh, Kuldeep Kandhari, Brijesh Gupta, Manav Mahajan, Varun Khajuria, Rohit Sharma, Chaman Lal, Jialal,Tejram Choudhary, Shashipal, Vaneet Gupta and Ram Lubhaya.
Movement restarted from Rajinder Bazar Association in the presence of Bazar Association chairman, Krishan Lal Gupta and president Arjun Gupta, general secretary, Amit Gupta ,Raman Gandotra and Balraj Gupta.
The Team collected the letter from the organisation which they have written to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Anu Rajesh Gupta, while raising the issue of custodian property holders asked the Bazar Association to support the cause of the Evacuee Property Tenants.
She said that the evacuee property holders are living in horrible conditions for the last 77 years and if these properties have been maintained in habitable condition it is only due to the contribution of these people whose fourth generation is now living in these properties.
Karan Singh, while speaking in the meeting said that even our heritage buildings have turned into ruins as there is no one to take care of these buildings but the custodian properties are in good condition due to these tenants.
Kuldeep Kandhari said that the tenants of Custodian Department have to approach the concerned offices for seeking permission to undertake repair and maintenance and they get very poor response.
Brijesh Gupta said that those of the tenants who construct two rooms, kitchen and bathroom from their own pocket the Department charges them a premium of which is a wrong practice.
Chairman of the Association, Krishan Lal Gupta demanded that ownership rights be given to evacuee property tenants or as an alternative they be given a lease of 90 years as these people have suffered all along due to an uncertain future.
Arjun Gupta president of the Association gave full support to Jammu East Constituency Citizen Forum for this cause and demanded that the ownership rights to the Custodian Tenants should be given immediately.
