SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Friday visited north Kashmir and reviewed security arrangements put in place for the last phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections.
A police spokesperson today said that Mr Singh visited Kupwara, Handwara and Baramulla in north Kashmir and reviewed the security situation in these frontier districts.
“Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of North Kashmir, Sulaiman Chowdary, the DGP first visited Kupwara and then to Handwara and in the afternoon he visited Baramulla. The DGP chaired joint review meetings at these district headquarters,” he said.
Reviewing the security arrangements put in place by different security agencies for the eighth phase of DDC and by-elections for Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULB), the DGP stressed on the need of ensuring strict and elaborate security arrangements around the polling booths for peaceful conduct of final phase of polling.
