Vivekananda College celebrates Silver Jubilee

KATHUA, Jan 17: Vivekananda College of Education, Lakhanpur, Kathua today celebrated its Silver Jubilee with gusto and fanfare.
Dr. Indresh Kumar Member, Akhil Bhartiya Karyakarini, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was the chief guest on the occasion and Prof. Rajnikant, Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu was guest of honour. Lal Chand, Chairman, J&K Environment Impact Assessment Authority, presided over the function. Other eminent personalities who graced the occasion were Vijay Sharma Advocate, Rajesh Gupta, Sardar Buta Singh, Captain (retd) Gian Singh Pathania, Vijesh Khanna, Shakti Pathak SSP Samba, Dr. Sudarshan Kumar Gupta, Chairman of the College and Dr. Anju Sharma Principal of the College.
In the starting statues of Maa Saraswati & Swami Vivekananda were unveiled by the chief guest along with chairperson, guest of honour and other eminent personalities.
In his welcome address Dr. Sudarshan Kumar Gupta highlighted the Swami Vivekananda’s excellence in education. He also threw light on the achievements of the College during these past 25 years i.e. from 1995-2020.
Main items of the cultural programme were welcome song by B.Ed girl students, Dogri dance by Khajoor Singh a renowned Dogri artist, poem by Vijaya Thakur & Giddha by B.Ed girl students.
In his address, Dr. Indresh Kumar congratulated the management, Chairman & Principal of the College along with the staff and students for completing 25 years and for organizing such a grand & gala function. He said that major goal of education is harmonious development of personality & it is the sum total of impressions created by words, thoughts, intellect, virtues, body & spirituality. He further said that every body must be proud of its language, caste, religion & motherland. He asked audience to perform certain activities i.e. to produce the sounds of various living & non-living things in order to differentiate between good and bad person. He asked audience to make poses & chant slogans of various eminent personalities i.e. Maharani Laxmibai, Swami Vivekananda, Subash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Veer Sawarkar, Chander Shekhar Azaad, etc. He said that Vivekananda once said that ‘the day will come when India will lead other nations of the world and the day has come now’.
Adressing the audience Chairperson Lal Chand said that one must thank almighty God for accompanying the college in marvelous ways for completing its 25 years & helping through these years in keeping it safe, progressing, productive and always one step ahead in providing teacher education. Guest of honour Prof. Rajnikant also addressed the audience.
Chief guest, Chairperson & Guest of honour were honoured with mementoes presented by Chairman & Principal of the college on behalf of Vivekananda Family. Principal Dr. Anju Sharma was honoured by Dr. Indresh Kumar with Shawl. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anju Sharma, Principal of the college.
